Free wireless voice service for everyone!*

All cell phone providers are now offering free voice service in their plans. Unfortunately, it comes with a cost.
If you were to take a look at most of the wireless plans the fact that needs to be established is that you aren’t paying for voice service anymore. It’s all about data. Don’t believe me? Go to the website of any of the phone providers plans; they all include unlimited calling.
But take a look at what data is included and another story emerges. Carriers are in the business of providing a dumb pipe that provides data to the end user. That’s it. The fact that they offer voice service is nearly a tacit admission of where their revenue comes from now. In the future they might be even clearer and simply provide a data connection and you can choose your own voice provider.
Conveniently for the carriers, they cut the amount of data in each plan for the unit price all while Cisco is predicting that smartphones users will be using 7 times as much data as in 2013
I miss the days when voice minutes weren’t free.
